Smiley's Scholarship Fund

Austin always found so many reasons to smile. He had a permanent smirk on his face. In honor of our son the Smiley’s Scholarship fund was set-up. It is specifically set aside for the Class of 2020.

Applications will be available here between October 1, 2019 - February 1, 2020. At this time three $2500 scholarships will be awarded.

Austin & Deshon Ballin'

A few great clips of Austin & Deshon balling during a Freshman game. They were a great team.

Brothers Anthem

Austin had a huge heart for his friends. He was a very loyal friend to many. More than anything in the world, he loved hanging out and being there for his friends, many of which he called his brothers.

The "Smiley" Story

Last year during summer football conditioning, Austin came home to share with me that his coach started calling him Smiley. The coaches would always ask him, "Why are you smiling so much?" When the workouts got tougher, he would smile more. Soon after, all of his friends called him Smiley. What many of his friends did not know at the time was that one of Austin’s dogs is also named Smiley.

Austin Loved Sports

His dad shared “One of my favorite moments is when he started beating me at basketball. He smiled & said your getting old dad. I enjoyed that more than any of his other sporting games.”

Known for His Goofiness

His step-dad Matt shared, "Austin would strut around the house with his chest out and say What… what… what cha gunna do? I’ll beat you up. Yah that’s what I thought. All I would need to do is lick my finger or pick my nose, and attempt to wipe it on him. By the end of the scuffle he ended up on the floor in the fetal position with slobber all over his face."

Loved his Sissies

Alexus shared, “My Favorite moments were the simple moments, the small adventures & being able to be a part of those moments. He was my adventure buddy & best friend even if he didn’t even know it.”

Jazmyne shared, “My favorite memories with Austin were all the times we danced. From Dance Kinect at home, to dancing in the car, at the wedding & in Lake Tahoe. His moves made him the life of the party.”

Sweet Boy

Every night Austin would ask me to pray with him. Even when he as 5 ft 9, he would come plop on my lap or wrap his arms around me in his brown smelly boy blanket for his good night prayer.  If his friends called him a mama’s boy he would tell them “I’m not a mamas boy, I’m just a boy who loves his mama”
